Directly after the appointment

  • Always wash your hands with antibacterial soap or disinfect them before cleaning or touching your new tattoo.

  • Remove the protective foil after 2-4 hours and rinse your new tattoo with cold to lukewarm water (not hot and no soap). In the beginning, ink and wound fluid will come out of the tattoo: this is totally normal! While washing: Pour the water onto the tattoo with your hand (not directly from the shower/faucet). Clean the tattoo with gentle circular movements.

  • The tattoo is best left to dry in the air. If urgent, it can be lightly dabbed with household paper. Do not use towels!

  • Change your bedsheets and use a fresh towel for showering.

  • Wear clean and loose clothes during the healing process.

During the healing phase (3-5 weeks)

  • Clean the tattoo at least twice a day. If you look at your tattoo it should always be dry and clean. If it’s not, change that!

  • After the tattoo is 100% dry, apply a thin layer of Bepanthen® or your preferred tattoo cream. The ointment is rather thick and it is important that the tattoo can breathe, so apply only in very thin layers. After the first day, we recommend applying the cream to the tattoo two or three times a day for a month.

  • If the tattoo is on a friction zone (e.g. armpit, belt line) it is recommended to wear a plastic foil over it for the first 2 days and change it every 2 hours.

  • After the first week the skin on the tattoo begins to peel and flake. This is normal and never scratch it!

  • After the first month, some lines or shades may have lightened up a little. We are happy to schedule a touch-up appointment at that time.

While healing please avoid

  • Tight fitting clothes

  • Sports (light sports like yoga, workout, jogging can be done after 3-5 days but don’t do sports where hits, scratches or friction could impact the tattoo for 3-5 weeks. Also always clean the tattoo after sweating).

  • Sun, sauna, solarium, bathing, soaking the tattoo in water (lake, sea, bathtub, pool)

  • Do not scratch or rub, this removes ink and leads to
    infections!

  • Limit sun exposure during the first 2-4 weeks. If you know you will be in the sun for a long time, wear a thin layer of clothing over the tattoo.
After it’s healed, use a high SPF sunscreen on your tattoo when you are in the sun.

  • No animals in bed for four weeks

It should be completely healed after 6-8 weeks. Enjoy your tattoo!
For best long-term results, avoid sun exposure/wear high SPF sunscreen and keep the tattoo well moisturized.

If you had a good experience with us, we would appreciate a review on Google!

If you aren’t happy for any reason at all, or have any questions, please let me know at tattoo@bermi.ch

I really appreciate healed photos after the healing is complete! It helps showcase how the tattoo will realisticly look after time has passed.
Have a friend take the photo for you from a few feet apart with natural non-direct light. If it's okay that I post it on my instagram-stories, send it to me. :)
